UNICEF: Afghan Children Face Endless Crises

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has warned that children in Afghanistan are facing ongoing crises and severe humanitarian conditions.
In a message posted on X on Tuesday, September 16, UNICEF said the lack of quality education, healthcare services, clean drinking water, and psychological support has put the lives and future of Afghan children at serious risk.
Highlighting its partnership with the Embassy of Japan in Afghanistan, the agency noted that it has been able to address some of the children’s basic needs in certain areas. UNICEF stressed that continuing such programs is vital to protect children from the harm caused by the country’s deteriorating situation.
More than four years after the Taliban’s return to power, educational and healthcare services in Afghanistan have sharply declined, leaving hundreds of thousands of children without access to basic necessities. Experts warn that this trend threatens the future of an entire generation.
UNICEF emphasized that the international community must provide urgent and effective support to save Afghan children from the current crisis. However, with international organizations facing restrictions under Taliban rule, delivering humanitarian services has become more challenging than ever.
